We gather at Silver Spire United Church situated on a road, that was once a path that was travelled by old and young alike for millennia – people of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Anishnaabek, folks from the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Attiwonderonk peoples. The colonial and imperialistic powers colonized these lands and promised to live according to the Two Row Wampum agreement, but they did not. They signed Treaty No. 3 known as the between the Lakes treaty, and did not live in accordance with that agreement either.

We acknowledge the original stewards of the land upon which we all live, work and play, and recognize that there is much work of reparation and reconciliation to be done.
