Who We Are

A progressive church located in Downtown St. Catharines that presents a variety of arts, culture, and social justice programs.

Silver Spire United Church was founded on July 1, 2008, through the unification of three former downtown St. Catharines churches. This spirit of unity is at the heart of our identity. With a current membership of about 250, our average Sunday worship attendance is around 75 people.

When you walk into our sanctuary on a Sunday morning, you can feel the lively energy as people gather for worship. However, our community’s vibrancy extends well beyond Sunday services. Throughout the week, Silver Spire is a bustling center of life and connection. Our building buzzes with activity as community and church groups meet, plan, and build relationships.

Every part of Silver Spire is alive, hosting a wide variety of events and gatherings. From food and arts programs to recovery groups, 2SLGBTQI+ support, and Indigenous community meetings, our church is a place where people come together to grow and strengthen the heart of the city.

Together, our board, staff, and volunteers share a deep sense of purpose in creating positive change—for our congregants, collaborators, and community alike. We empower artists and creatives, collaborate closely with local non-profits, and foster an environment where everyone can express their true selves. Welcoming newcomers and supporting our community members, no matter where they are on their journey, is a collective effort among the Silver Spire team.
